transfers redux

I am just so jazzed about these transfers. So incredibly easy!

Perfect every time. Look at this great detail.

Hi Valerie, I guess I'm the "dunce" of the month.
I've signed up to check your blog, and I still can't find how you do the transfers with parchment paper. Do you wet it and lay it upside down? just stick it on the clay? baked or unbaked? just print in reverse on the parchment.

Thanks if you have time to respond..

Hi Nancy,
The details are just a bit lower on the page!
here is a direct link to that entry http://valerieaharoni.com/2008/12/those-elusive-transfers.html
Just print on the parchment. Reverse for any words/letters/numbers. I cut the paper to the image. Lay the image onto a sheet of raw clay. Once the image makes contact it begins to immediately transfer. No luxury of repositioning. So I always have a large sheet of raw clay. The excess clay can alway be trimmed after. Burnish. Remove paper. You will notice ALL of the ink will have transferred! While you are burnishing if you pay close attention you will see the ink leave the paper. The paper starts to look more like itself and less like it has anything on it...hard to explain.

No water or other release agent needed. When I used the inkjet I did notice the transfer was not quite as vibrant. I do not know if that is due to the settings I have on the inkjet or ??? I do know that I am so delighted with my laser transfers I have not experimented more with the inkjet. I just know that it does indeed work with both inkjet and laser. It also works on 3 brands of clay so far; Kato, Fimo, and Premo.

Hope this helps!

Hi Valerie, I will have to try this, it looks intriguing. I can't tell you how many transfer ideas I've had go through my head, only to have to discard them because I'm afraid they won't work. This looks promising, I hope my ink works well with this. Also I have been following your blog for over a month and am still getting a post ( as your most recent) showing on my blog from 6 days ago. I so that I was not under your followers so I clicked on 'follow' but my blog is still showing your latest entry from 6 days ago, 'The Joy Of New Books!!! -' Any clue why? :)

Zayit,
Thanks for your nice comments. Usually when what you are describing re updating a webpage happens, it has something to do with your cache. Try clearing your browser history. If you use IE, right click on it>properties>browsing history>delete. That clears your cache and IE will update. I also have my history set to 2 days. By default it is set to 20 days and that gives too many days!

Hope that helps!

Valerie
