Social Networking

What to choose. All or concentrate on one or two?

Twitter seems suited for those who are mobile phone addicts. I signed up and my cell phone was inundated with text messages until I figured out how to stop ‘em! Interesting.

facebook

I’ve been asked so many times if I have a facebook account, I finally looked at it this week. Also very busy. Seems a bit more user friendly. You can link your blog and Flicker accounts. Nice. Puts everything in one location.  I have created what facebook calls a ‘page’. It is a cleaner look. However it seems you cannot invite friends as with the standard format. I am still trying to figure this out!

What do you use? Or are you one of the sane ones and don’t!

For those wanting to try, I have listed the parchment I use at Etsy. Small quantities. Cheap.

I use Facebook, Twitter, and my own blog. Keeping up is sometimes crazy. I have a goal this year to not live on the computer trying to keep up and to spend that time in the studio.

ps: I found a different parchment paper and will be trying it in a few days. will let you know if it works.

I have resisted the pull of Facebook...so far. I blog...recently started. I spend wayyyyy to much time on the computer as it is...Facebook would be something else to keep mt online.

I'll be very interested in your results!

Julz,
You are so right about too much time on the computer! I try to limit. It is hard when attempting to run a web-based business!

Val, I just went and became a 'fan' of your page... here's the thing. You want to ask everyone you know to become a fan. Then everyone in OUR FB network sees we have, and they go look too, to see what you are about. It increases exponentially... then every time you update your page a notice goes out to all of your fans. It is a simple, free way to do marketing though it can take a bit of time to expand your network. It happens automatically, over time --It should not take a lot of time to maintain since you already do the work of blogging and getting photos of your work - it is just one more way to direct people to your web site. Good Luck!
KB, lurker, who STILL wants to know how to get snowflakes on her blog...

Katy,
Thank you so very much for the guidance! I do hesitate to keep asking people to DO things...guess just must find the gumption!

Snowflakes.... Snowflake Widget
It is almost automatic!

Have fun,

Hi Valerie,
Congrats on jumping into Facebook. I joined a couple of weeks ago and it is addictive. I became a fan of your page and noticed that you are using an RSS feed to move your blog posts into your Facebook page notes. I didn't know I could do this, but now that I know it's possible I need to make it happen. This is a very efficient way to make the most of the content you create. Great job!

Big World Studio on Facebook

Hi Wendy,
Trying to be efficient on all this web 'stuff'. Now if I can find a way to auto update Twitter!

BTW, to make your signature a hyperlink to your facebook page do this: Big World Studio

I put an extra space after the final a and before the final > so that the coding will show up. When you remove that space you will get:

Big World Studio

Have fun!

Valerie January 13, 2009 10:44 AM

well....that did not work. The extra space was ignored!
I tried reposting with a dozen different configurations. Blogger found errors with the link, as it should. And refused to post, as it shouldn't!

So sorry! Email me direct and I'll send the example should you want it!
