the Laser!
The laser printer I have found to be the cheapest and the most reliable for the baking parchment is again available cheap.
At Buy.com the Samsung CLP-315 is now on sale for $141.99. This model is wireless and the price is about $50 more than the model that is not wireless.
My space is such that wireless is the only way I can manage efficiently.
I happen to use this printer for just about everything. Replacement cartridges are not cheap. The mileage is fantastic. When I do have to dig deep to buy ink, I know I will not have to do so for quite a while.
I have been quite happy with the Samsung CLP-315. I did ‘kill’ one. User abuse. So when these last went on sale in December I purchased another. The cost of the printer with the cartridge set (it comes with a full set of cartridges) just made sense!

Valerie, thanks so much for this tip. It gave me the incentive to take the leap and order the Samsung printer. I tried the parchment transfer method with 3 different inkjet printers, wasn't happy with the results and gave up on it for a while. I just ordered more paper from you and can't wait to try this out when the printer arrives.
Hehehe I love your disclaimer Valerie! The printer looks like a great one. Will have to think about that. I have a black and white laser printer and the ink goes on forever so the cost per page is much less than many inkjet printers are. Would love to have a color laser printer. There are so many cool things that can be done with them!
My little Samsung has started to have constant paper jams, it will no longer work, to get it repaired will cost more than the printer itself. I have seen multiple accounts of this problem with the 315, buyer beware. I'm heartbroken, no more transfers.
riv,
Have you considered we are abusing the heck out of the Samsung?
If you watch the sales the cost of the printer falls to what it costs to purchase a set of ink cartridges. So, in effect, you are getting the printer free. (The Samsungs I have purchased have come with a set of full ink cartridges.)
You have to buy ink anyway, the machine just gets shipped as a bonus!
That is how I interpret this crazy market,
Valerie
Valerie,
HEHEHe, I like your perspective ;0) Since I can't purchase another little Samsung right now, I'm using the part that DOES print from the printer, the first 1/3 of the paper. I just bought new ink and am determined not to let it go to waste. Do you think using you paper and method is what is wearing these little printers out?
riv,
I am sure we are not doing the printer any favors. The ink does not get absorbed, and that is not how the roller was designed to work.
Glad you found a work around!
Valerie
